Composer and educator, Felipe Ortiz Verissimo (Montevideo, 1987). He has studied at the University School of Music (Uruguay) where he got his degree in Music Composition. He has attended magistral classes and seminars with Steve Reich, Christian Wolff, Luca Belcastro, Graciela Paraskevaídis, Ertugrul Sevsay, Omar Corrado, Pablo Fessel, among others.
He has written music for symphonic orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir, electroacoustics and theater plays. His music has been performed in Argentina (IUNA, Conservatorio Manuel de Falla), Brasil (Santa Catarina´s Music Festival), Cuba (La Habana´s XXIV Contemporary Music Festival) and Uruguay.
He worked with the uruguayan artist Enrique Badaró (fulbrighter) composing background music for presentations and premieres at the National Museum of Visual Arts (Uruguay). Also, he worked with the uruguayan actor and theater director Bernardo Trías, teaching music in theater classes at the University of Uruguay. In 2015 he won the first prize of the Premios Nacionales de Música in Uruguay. He is currently working with the National Symphonic Orchestra (OSSODRE) as archivist and teachs music theory at the University of Uruguay.
